Housing: The Hub of Public Policy 2010
From Policy Discussions to Practical Solutions
The goal of “Housing: The Hub of Public Policy 2010” is simple: to widen the understanding and appreciation of affordable housing as a vital ingredient in the solution of major public policy problems.
The 2009 series of forums – a collaboration of the state Department of Economic and Community Development and The Partnership for Strong Communities – drew hundreds of attendees, exposed new opinion leaders to housing policy and its uncommonly close connection to other policy solutions, and unearthed new ideas. The success of the 2009 series sparked the Partnership to join hands with DECD and the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority to produce a 2010 Lyceum Forum Series focused on practical solutions.
The 2010 Series will move beyond a demonstration of the interdisciplinary connections to a series of workshops that flesh out policy alternatives that can simultaneously solve housing problems and provide solutions for education, transportation, healthcare and other dilemmas.
Location
All events were held at The Lyceum Resource and Conference Center, 227 Lawrence Street, Hartford CT 06106.
The Lyceum, operated by the Partnership for Strong Communities, provides a common ground to all those working on solutions to homelessness, the development of affordable and supportive housing and the creation of strong communities.
